Distribution Centre - Reactive DB Replacement after Power failure.

Location: Hinckley

Attended site as a callout to power failure in an area within the Distribution Centre.  Located 3x 100A fuses blown in the Sub Panel, replaced with stock from site and restored supply to the isolated incoming switch of a 16 way Merlin Gerin C45 Type DB that was 'of an age'.

Internal inspection prior to re loading the final circuits found heavy carbonising at spare ways causing a Phase to Phase fault in the spine of the DB Pan assembly and caused the fuses to blow.

Informed site that a DB replacement would be required to be actioned for the next day. Locked off and tagged out the Sub mains supply and DB overnight.

A new 16 way TPN SEA9BPN 16 Type B PoN Acti9 with RCBOs and MCBs thankfully all in-stock at Edmundson Electrical Leicester Branch, enabled Engineers Todd and Sam to begin stripping out and marking up the final circuits, mounting the new unit then re-connecting and testing out the existing final circuits the very next day. The affected Loading bays and other equipment planned to be back in service within 24 Hours, as well as tracing a fault to some failing lighting contactors, marked these for replacement by the end of the week.

Additional protection by 30mA RCBO has also been provided to general purpose socket-outlets circuits original to the installation.
