MCCB Panel-board replacement

EDN corrective works

An (EDN) Electrical Danger Notice from an (EICR) Electrcial Installation Condition Report at one of the University Campus Buildings found that the MCCB protective devices in a Main Panel-board would not operate either via the trip mechanism or by physical means in order to disconnect the supply circuits and sub-mains.
Initially the existing device maker were approached to supply new MCCBs but these were not compatible with the old type of panel-board.
As such it was then agreed with our client to replace the entire panel-board with a Schneider Compact-NSXm Panel-board, populated with the latest model Compact NSXm MCCBs.
The parts of the installation which would be affected by the loss of supply during the replacement were located and listed to our client contact for the department.
The works were carried out over the Jubilee weekend as this was agreed to have the least impact, and a short time before the new panel-board was assembled and checked to ensure it would be a straight forward swap.
With the existing sub mains intended to be re-connected the replacement went ahead as planned.
An EIC covered the works and this will be issued with the relevant EDN number entered in the description of works in order to redord and close the Notice using our login access to the Guardian TraQit portal as the inspector warranted a Code C2 as 'Potentially dangerous'. Back To List
